Lawsuit Filed Against Garrison Bight Marina, Inc. d/b/a Aqua Lodges at Coconut Cay Marina and RV Park for Negligence

Tampa, FL (June 19, 2025) – Black Rock Trial Lawyers today announced the filing of a lawsuit on behalf of their client, Jon Paul Spallees, against Garrison Bight Marina, Inc., doing business as Aqua Lodges at Coconut Cay Marina and RV Park (“Coconut Cay”), located in Marathon, Florida. The lawsuit, filed in the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit in and for Monroe County, Florida, seeks damages in excess of $50,000 for personal injuries sustained by Mr. Spallees as a result of the Defendant’s negligence.

According to the complaint, on March 10, 2025, Mr. Spallees was a guest at Coconut Cay and rented a bicycle from the resort. While operating the bicycle on the premises, Mr. Spallees fell due to a defect in the bicycle. The lawsuit alleges that the bicycle was defective and that Coconut Cay failed to properly maintain its bicycles, resulting in the Plaintiff’s injuries.

The lawsuit asserts that Garrison Bight Marina, Inc. owed a duty of care to Mr. Spallees to ensure that the bicycle was safe to operate and that they breached this duty by failing to correct the deficiencies present on the bicycle. As a direct result of the incident, Mr. Spallees has allegedly suffered serious and permanent injuries, including bodily injury, physical pain and suffering, disability, inconvenience, physical impairment, loss of earnings and earning capacity, aggravation of an existing condition, and medical expenses.

The Plaintiff is seeking a trial by jury and judgment against the Defendant for damages, costs, and any other relief deemed just by the Court.
